09/02/2022 - Baseball Factory's All-Region Tournament (HS) with Video Showcase Justin continues to shine on the diamond with his baseball abilities at the All-Region tournament. Behind the plate, feet are aggressive and active as he works in line to his target, through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times showed in the 2.07range with accuracy on his throws. Throws are accurate with carry (82 mph velocity) on his throws. He shows a squared setup, tracks well, and sticks balls in the zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. At the plate, he shows a balanced setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn.

12/28/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Indianapolis, IN Justin is a young, solid catcher, who showed good improvement since his last event with Baseball Factory. Behind the plate, Justin shows efficient footwork, a square set up, and firm hands. He is quick to his feet, covers ground well, and his exchange is clean with a high 3/4 arm slot to 2B. Pop times lowered at the event to 1.98 seconds. Continuing to widen his stance and work on blocking will help abilities behind the plate get even better. Offensively is were Justin showed very good improvements. He stands in the box with an athletic stance, takes a square stride towards the pitcher, and loads his hands back well. He has a rhythmic swing, fast bat speed, and makes hard contact gap the gap. Both hitting and power grades improved to 48‘s. Staying short through the ball and a more consistent barrel through the ball will help offensive numbers continue to spike.

07/21/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Fort Wayne, IN Justin is a young, 2-way player who catches and pitches. Behind the plate, Justin has quiet actions, a presentable target, and he squares the ball up. He has good flexion, a clean exchange, and he throws with a long arm action to 2nd base. Pop times were as low as 2.6 seconds. On the mound, Justin has good balance and a clean arm circle. He separates his hands on time, works down in the zone, and throws strikes. Offensively, Justin has a square set-up, he swings in good rhythm, and keeps a still head. He works the middle of the field, and he hits with strength to the pull side. Overall skills can continue to get better with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
