06/17/2019 - National Tryout - New Britain (Hartford), CT
Justin showed as a 1B/RHP this time around at the Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout. At 1B, he fields the ball out in front of his body and makes a clean exchange. He shows the ability to throw from multiple arm slots and keeps his throws accurate and on-line to his target. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He drives through well with his lower half and drives the ball to all fields with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, delivery is sound/repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 73-76 with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 3/9 shape with across break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Overall, Justin is a solid prospect who will get looks from collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.
