10/07/2018 - College PREP - Austin, TX Justin continues to improve athletically, knocking 2 tenths off of his 60 yard time (down to 6.94) and improving his raw velocity (up to 86 mph) since we last saw him (just four months ago). Offensively, he has quick, loose hands and the ability to use the whole field. Shows flashes of some gap power which will improve along with his strength and better utilization of his lower half. Actions in the outfield are clean. Angles and reads are good. Arm will play even better as he works to improve momentum to his target and stays in line with his lower half a bit longer. Pace of progression as an athlete and as a player has been encouraging. Justin has the chance to help a program out with the bat, the glove, and his legs.

06/23/2018 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Justin is a coachable outfield prospect who has a high baseball IQ. As a right-handed hitter, Justin has a square, athletic stance with a firm front side and centered balance. He has fluid rhythm with a short stride. Justin has a good feel for his barrel and shows an in-out swing path. He is a contact type hitter who has the ability to spray the ball to all fields. In the field, Justin plays with confidence and quick footwork as he covers good ground. He does a nice job communicating and fields the ball in an athletic position. Justin has a clean exchange leading into a long arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He plays through the baseball with good momentum toward his target showing consistently online throws. Overall, Justin has the right approach on both sides of the ball giving him a bright future on the diamond.

01/07/2018 - College PREP - San Antonio, TX Justin is a tall, thin, 2-way player who will graduate in 2019. In the OF, Justin has fluid footwork, he takes good angles to the ball, and he fields in an athletic position. He has good range, gathers himself well, and throws with strength and accuracy to his target. Better body control at times, and a quicker 1st step will only help defense improve. On the mound, Justin has quiet actions, a clean arm action, and he finishes well out over his front knee. Improved off-speed and more extension can help mound effectiveness improve. Offensively, Justin has a square/athletic set-up, he loads properly, and he stands in well balanced. He tracks well, can hit to all fields, and he uses his lower body well.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
