Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/LHPPosition Projection

11/12/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Middletown (Hartford), CT Justin is a solid, 2-way player as a 1B/LHP. Defensively at 1B, he hustles well into a low fielding position on GB's. He funnels the ball with soft hands and makes accurate throws to his target. On the hill, this lefty gathers over the rubber with a 3-pitch mix. He delivers from a hi 3/4 arm slot with loose/clean arm action and commands his pitches in and around the zone. At the plate, Justin has smooth rhythm to load. He whips his barrel on a direct path fast through the zone and squares up pitches driving them on a line. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Quick footwork
2. Quick exchange to throw
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Pitching
1. Strong frontside
2. Lower 1/2 drive off rubber
3. Finish
Offense
1. Develop a load
2. Lower 1/2 drive
3. Contact points

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
