01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Justin is an athletic 2B/3B prospect who continued to showcase his skills at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament. In the field, Justin takes a good first step and displays active footwork. He gets into a low position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and throws from a high 3/4 angle, keeping his throws accurate to his target. At the plate, this switch hitter shows a solid swing from both sides. He sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He gets his hands activated on time and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed, leading to loud contact and line drives. Overall, Justin is a solid prospect who should find success in this, his senior season.

12/27/2018 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Justin is an athletic built C/2B prospect who has a talented skill set. Behind the plate, Justin plays the position athletically with fluid movements. He has a low setup and receives the ball with a strong glove. Justin has a slow exchange and gains ground on his throws to 2B. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot showing accurate, strong results. Justin does a nice job blocking the baseball and creates effective angles. Offensively, Justin is a switch hitter who shows slightly better from the right side. He has an athletic setup with a centered balance. He has loose hands with good rhythm in his load. Justin shows fast bat speed with a smooth swing path. He engages his core and consistently lands the barrel to the baseball. Justin shows the ability to drive the ball to the pull side. Overall, Justin is well-rounded prospect who can take his game to the next level.

06/03/2018 - College PREP - Folsom (Sacramento), CA Justin is a C/2B graduating in 2019. At second base, Justin shows a pre-pitch routine and active feet that give him agile range when making plays in the hole. He displays an athletic fielding position, presenting his hands out front and making quick exchanges into a short arm action (3/4 arm slot). He makes accurate throws on a line through a quick release. Justin can improve at second base by attacking ground balls harder. Behind the plate, Justin shows quick feet that give him agile range to make difficult plays. He displays an athletic fielding position, receiving with soft hands while sticking pitches and getting to his knees to quickly block balls in the dirt. He makes clean exchanges into a long arm action (3/4 arm slot), throwing the ball accurately on a line using his body's momentum. Justin can improve behind the plate by staying in his legs when throwing to a target. Offensively, Justin swings from both sides of the plate and shows a gap-to-gap, contact type approach. Justin displays quiet movements as he shows an athletic set up and a square stride to the ball. He shows a good back side hand load with fluid, smooth rhythm and a strong center balance. Lower half stays through with a firm front half and explosive bat speed. His swing path is direct and on-plane as he makes consistently hard contact. Justin is a talented player than can play at the next level with some fine tuning.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
