06/29/2016 - 2016 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National West Justin is a powerful C that continues to shine. He displays great flexion and good sway as he pockets pitches with a soft, sure mitt. His pop times remain in the 1.83 range. At the plate, Justin has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. He whips the barrel through the zone as he connects with strength. The ball jumps off of his barrel as he crushes it to the gaps. Overall, Justin is a talented prospect that will make things happen both behind the dish as well as with the bat.

01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Justin continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and impressed many with his abilities behind the plate at the Preseason All American event. At the plate, hitting grades are now tremendous with outstanding power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work inside the baseball as he utilizes all fields. Barrel accuracy is a plus and has strength in his swing with baseball exploding off the bat when centered, displaying gap to gap pop. Behind the plate, pop times showed a range of 1.95 as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Arm strength is outstanding and he will control the running game with his feet / arm. He plays with a ton of energy and shows the ability to handle a pitching staff with his receiving / blocking skills. Justin has the makings of a special type player at the next level and will get looks from the collegiate coaches.

07/20/2015 - 2015 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National West Justin is a very strong catcher that has good hit ability from the left side. His measureables were strong as he threw pops in the 1.9 - 2.0 range, throwing 84 with his raw velo, and hit with strength busting an 89 on his exit velocity. Behind the dish, he was clean to receive with a soft/sure glove, tracking the ball in, and was quick to transfer and throw. He worked under even the low pitches and was fundamentally sound to drop and block. In the box, he hit with a flat bat and had a simple move to initiate his swing. He repeated consistently and had 2 hits in 5 ab's. In all - Justin is a promising underclassmen that has two years until he steps foot on a college campus.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
