12/27/2015 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Justin continues to show steady play in his baseball abilities. At the plate is where he continues to show best through an athletic setup. He has strength in his swing and a solid feel for the barrel as he displays gap to gap pop. Lower half works well through swing with the baseball coming off his bat differently. At the event, he was 2 for 7 with a 3B and made hard contact on several occasions. At 1B, he presents a big target and displays proper footwork around the bag, displaying clean hands. He moves well laterally, flashing range and will continue to improve as he presents hands more out front.

06/07/2015 - College PREP - Atlanta, GA Justin is a big, strong, and athletic 3B that will graduate in 2016 with a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is above average as indicated by his 7.28 60 time. At 1B, defensive grade are well above average, displaying smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are soft / sure as he presents well out front and consistently showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt, saving throws. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed and work through a level swing path. He is strong with strength in his swing as he works to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields and shows a feel for the barrel with baseball exploding off bat when centered. Justin has a ton of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
