07/26/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Justin is a strong 1B that showed good barrel control at the plate. Hitting, Justin sets up square and tall with high hands. His load is simple with a short stride getting his foot down on time. He gets the barrel on plane showing plus barrel control to hit the ball where its pitched. His approach shows as gap-to-gap. Using the lower half more and creating more hip/shoulder separation will help Justin improve his power. In the field, Justin shows athletic actions with good range to the glove and back hand side. He fields the ball square, making clean exchanges as he creates momentum towards the target. Using a long toss program can help Justin improve his overall arm strength as well as taking short hops at 1B. Justin always asks questions and is coachable which will be valuable for him moving forward.

05/12/2019 - College PREP - Lakewood (Denver), CO Justin is an athletic 1B prospect who will graduate in 2020. In the field, Justin shows efficient footwork and flashes good range to his glove side. He gets into a square position and fields out in front with a firm glove. He makes a clean exchange and keeps his throws consistent to his target. Smoothening his release can help Justin improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and gets into his load well. He drives through well with his lower half and takes a direct swing, leading to solid contact to all fields. Justin can improve as a hitter by taking a square stride towards the pitcher. Overall, Justin is a developing prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
