07/07/2020 - Back to Baseball Program Only - Trenton, NJ Justin is a L/L 1B who continues to work hard on his game. With the bat, this lefty shows an open stance with centered balance. He has smooth rhythm to load, takes a hack on a level path as he is short/direct to and through the zone. He squares the ball up and hits line-drives. Added power will come with more drive from his lower 1/2. At 1B, he has active prep and comes to get the GB. He tracks the ball into his mitt and gathers well. Continuing to develop his footwork/agility will aid in his defensive development. Only a 2024 grad - Justin still has a ton of time to progress to get to where he wants to be.

11/16/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Justin continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At 1B, defensive abilities have improved as he shows clean actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean and presents well out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 56 mph. Fastball showed a range of 55-56 mph with tailing action. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing tailing action but throws too hard to fastball velocity. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

10/01/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Trenton, NJ Justin is a 1B/LHP who will graduate in 2024. Defensively at 1B, he shows (+) range to his glove side and tries to get centered when fielding GB's. He hustles hard on every play and tries to play through the ball towards his target. On the mound, this lefty gathers over the rubber with a 3-pitch mix. He delivers from a hi 3/4 arm slot with clean arm action and works in line towards home plate. With the stick, Justin sets up square with smooth rhythm. He stays balanced as he swings on a direct path through the zone and creates consistent contact with each pitch. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Quick footwork
2. Stay low
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Pitching
1. Strong frontside
2. Lower 1/2 drive off rubber
3. Finish strong
Offense
1. Develop a load
2. Improve bat speed
3. Contact points

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
