10/16/2011 - College PREP - Hoover (Birmingham), AL Justin is a tall RHP / 1B that currently projects best on the mound for the next level but has potential as being a two-way player. On the mound, delivery is solid showing sound mechanics that allow his arm to work free to the plate on a strong downhill plane that creates tough angles on hitters. Arm action is long, loose, and quick from a high 3/4 arm slot. Fastball shows a range of 80-82 mph with slight arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with tight spin and sharp, short break, showing as a quality pitch for the next level. Changeup shows feel for but lacks movement. He attacks hitters as he throws strikes with all his pitches. At 1B, feet are active / efficient displaying proper footwork around the bag and plays through balls well. Hands are soft, clean, and sure in making the plays. At the plate, he shows a balanced approach with quick hands that work through a level swing path. Barrel accuracy is a plus and he shows strength in his swing with baseball exploding off his bat when centered. Justin has an upside on the mound with stock rising quickly if more arm strength is developed and could develop into a solid two-way guy.
