Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/OFPosition Projection

10/13/2019 - College PREP - Hoover (Birmingham), AL Justin is a tall RHP/OF prospect who will graduate in 2022. On the mound, Justin gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through his release, staying inline towards the plate. Justin shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 79mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 66-68mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits at 71mph with arm side run and sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Maintaining center balance through his separation can help Justin improve as a pitcher. In the field, Justin shows efficient footwork and attacks the ball aggressively. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry through his target. Justin can improve defensively by beating fly balls to their spot. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. Hs is smooth getting into his load and sprays the ball to all fields. Driving his lower half more can help Justin improve as a hitter. Overall, Justin is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
