Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/SSPosition Projection

09/08/2019 - College PREP - Greenville, SC Kael is a lean SS/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 60 time of 7.34. At SS, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays clean / athletic actions. Feet are active as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Glove actions is soft / sure and presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and on line carry (82 mph velocity) on his throws. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying well above average hitting / power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He shows a four pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 73 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 58-60 mph with 11/5 shape with gradual break. Slider is harder, 60-62 mph with tight spin and short break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run and sink. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. With 2 years to further develop, Kael has the makings of a special type player with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
