Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • C/RHPPosition Projection

12/27/2021 - Baseball Factory West Coast Winter Classic Kai is an advanced C/RHP in the class of 2026. He is mature, has a great attitude and communicates well beyond his years. Behind the plate, he has a low athletic set up and presents a solid target for his pitchers. He has clean exchanges and a short quick release (2.40 pop/71 velo). He routinely is on the bag with throws that have carry. On the mound, he uses a two pitch mix from the stretch. His FB topped at 64 and his CB has 12/6 shape. He has solid mound presence and has an understanding of how to pitch. Once he develops FB arm speed with his breaking pitch, he will be able to keep hitters off balance. At the plate he can really get on plane with the baseball. His timing with his stride is excellent and can shift his weight evenly. He can produce hard line drive contact (74 exit velo) with potential for more power. Kai will make an impact in his high school program very soon.

08/24/2021 - All-In Membership - Redmond, WA Kai is a lean C/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times showed in the 2.47 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a squared setup and presents a soft mitt out front and utilizes his body through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing and shows a feel for the barrel. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 60-63 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. With 5 years to further develop, Kai has the makings of a special type player as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
