06/18/2023 - National Showcase - Fresno, CA Kai continues show as a prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.11 with accuracy / carry (81 mph velocity) on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss. At 3B, defensive abilities are solid as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft and presents out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

01/13/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament Kai is a 2027 C who showcased his skills during the BF Rookie PSAA Tournament. Behind the plate, he presents a good target, with a relaxed posture, and has a loud mitt. Works with good direction towards second base as he replaces his feet and throws from a high 3/4 arm slot. Has a short arm stroke with a recorded arm velocity up to 75mph and a best pop time of 2.41 seconds. Shows smooth footwork on his blocks, with a soft chest, and tucks his chin. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and open stance. He showed a good hip turn and gets on-plane early. He hit balls to the pull side with a bat exit velocity up to 70mph. In live game action, he showed good plate discipline as he drew 4 base on balls. With 4 years of continued growth and development, we foresee Kai making huge strides on the baseball field.

09/05/2021 - Official Player Development Membership - Fresno, CA Kai is a C/2B who will graduate high school in 2027. A young/developing player with some present strength to the build and plenty of time to fill out. Primary C, he has quiet actions and quick feet. Ability to work around ball with good direction to second base. Quick transfer into a 3/4 arm slot, with a short arm stroke, and an arm velocity up to 69mph and a best pop time of 2.5 seconds. Quick to his knees as he created good blocking angles and has a soft chest. In the infield, he showed good lateral range and takes aggressive routes to the baseball. Fields from a square fielding, with a clean transfer, and ability to throw from multiple arm slots. Made on-line throws to first base with good momentum towards target. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and even stance. Square glide step with good balance at contact point and uses whole field. Made consistent contact as he sprayed balls to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 63ph. 6 years of continued growth and development will bode well for his opportunities to play in high school.

11/08/2019 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Kai is an athletic and talented 2027 utility prospect that was eager to learn. At 2B, Kai is on time with his prep step, he presents a low/early glove, and works from the ground up. He fields the ball in front of his body, he has a clean exchange, and has good footwork on double plays. Improving his first step quickness and arm strength will improve his overall game. Behind the dish, Kai presents a low target, he works behind the ball, and has a quiet primary stance. When blocking, he needs to continue to lead with his glove and control the ball with his chest. When throwing, he needs to continue to have a clean exchange, use his lower half, and keep his shoulder in line towards his target. At the plate, Kai starts in a squared stance, he loads his hands back, and attacks the inside part of the ball. He keeps the barrel on plane and he looks to hit the ball to all fields. Using his lower half more consistently will improve his overall swing. Kai will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

09/08/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Fresno, CA Kai is a wirery 2-way player who plays 2nd base and catcher. Behind the plate, Kai has efficient feet, agile movements, and he fields the ball athletically. He has a presentable glove, he takes good angles to field, and he throws with good direction to his target. At 2nd base, Kai has active feet, he attacks the ball aggressively, and his glove works well; throwing with accuracy across the diamond. Offensively, Kai has a crouched stance, he swings aggressively, and his hands are quick. He swings on plane and hits line drives. Overall skills can continue to spike with or on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
