07/05/2018 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Kai continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, he continues to show as a switch hitter with hitting / power potential improving from both sides. Currently, he projects best as a LHH. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. At SS, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up, displaying sure hands as he makes the plays. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 60-64 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.
