01/17/2020 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Kainen is an athletic, energetic, 2-way player who showed nice improvements in Arizona. In the OF, Kainen has quick feet, he tracks the ball well, and he goes back on the ball quickly. He has a quick 1st step, fields out in front of his body, and throws with accuracy from a short release to his cut off man. On the mound, Kainen shows good confidence, a short/lefty arm stroke, and solid direction toward the plate. His FB touched 54 MPH and he competes well in the zone. At the plate, this RHH showed good strength, a square set-up, and he swings on plane. He hits from a firm front side, he makes square/solid contact, and he rotates his core through the ball well.

08/18/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Dickinson, ND Kainen showed progressing skills both on the mound and in the OF during his last workout with The Factory. Defensively, Kainen has good instincts, he tracks well, and makes plays. He has a good 1st step to the ball, takes good angles, and has a short/consistent arm with momentum to his target. On the mound, Kainen has a clean arm circle, he keeps his eyes on target, and he works well to his balance point. He gets good pivot off his back foot, has good glove side lead, and lands with good direction toward home plate. Offensively, Kainen has stands in the box squarely with good balance, and he flashes some bat speed. He hits line drives consistently and taps into his lower body

11/08/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Kainen is a versatile LHP/OF prospect who has a talented skill set. On the mound, Kainen works with good tempo and pitches to contact. He has on-time mechanics throwing from a 3/4 arm slot with a clean arm action. Kainen lands open to home plate with the proper stride length. He does a nice job preparing himself to field his position. In the field, Kainen has an athletic setup and an aggressive approach. He has a load with a long stride as he uses his lower half throughout his swing. Kainen has a direct swing path producing square contact. He goes after the fastball and swings hard. Kainen has the ability to use the whole field and drive the ball to the pull side. In the field, Kainen plays hard and makes the routine plays. He presents his glove and move with body control as he fields the ball in a low position. Kainen has a clean exchange leading into a short arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. His throws are consistent with online carry. Overall, Kainen plays with good energy and has potential to take his game to the next level.

08/19/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Dickinson, ND Kainen is an athletic, 2-way player who plays OF and LHP. Defensively, Kainen has active feet, he is aggressive to the ball, and he takes proper angles. He has firm hands, fields in a square position, and throws with good direction toward his target. On the mound, Kainen has a free arm action, he keeps his eyes on target, and has good glove side lead with a controlled landing toward home plate. At the plate, Kainen has a square set-up, a short stride, and good balance. He swings on plane, makes consistent contact, and he uses his lower body. Kainen can get better with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
