11/08/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Kainen is a versatile LHP/OF prospect who has a talented skill set. On the mound, Kainen works with good tempo and pitches to contact. He has on-time mechanics throwing from a 3/4 arm slot with a clean arm action. Kainen lands open to home plate with the proper stride length. He does a nice job preparing himself to field his position. In the field, Kainen has an athletic setup and an aggressive approach. He has a load with a long stride as he uses his lower half throughout his swing. Kainen has a direct swing path producing square contact. He goes after the fastball and swings hard. Kainen has the ability to use the whole field and drive the ball to the pull side. In the field, Kainen plays hard and makes the routine plays. He presents his glove and move with body control as he fields the ball in a low position. Kainen has a clean exchange leading into a short arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. His throws are consistent with online carry. Overall, Kainen plays with good energy and has potential to take his game to the next level.

08/19/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Dickinson, ND Kainen is an athletic, 2-way player who plays OF and LHP. Defensively, Kainen has active feet, he is aggressive to the ball, and he takes proper angles. He has firm hands, fields in a square position, and throws with good direction toward his target. On the mound, Kainen has a free arm action, he keeps his eyes on target, and has good glove side lead with a controlled landing toward home plate. At the plate, Kainen has a square set-up, a short stride, and good balance. He swings on plane, makes consistent contact, and he uses his lower body. Kainen can get better with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14).
