12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory West Coast Winter Classic (Ages 12-14)
Kaipo is an athletic and talented 2-way prospect that was eager to learn. Behind the dish, Kaipo starts in an athletic primary stance, he presents a low/early glove, and works behind the ball. When blocking he leads with his glove, he creates a good angle over the ball, and has good lateral mobility. When throwing, Kaipo has a strong arm and good throwing mechanics. At the plate, Kaipo starts in an athletic and crouched stance. He loads his hands back, he attacks the inside part of the ball, and looks to hit the ball gap to gap. He needs to continue to rotate his backside and keep his head down at contact. On the bump, Kaipo has good mound presence, he finds a balance point, and separates on time. He needs to continue to ride his back leg down hill and finish over the front side. Kaipo will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.
