08/02/2015 - College PREP - Council Bluffs (Omaha), IA Kaj is an athletic LHP/OF that will graduate in 2016 with a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 7.07 60 time. Defensive abilities in the OF are well above average as he displays smooth / clean actions. He utilizes his quick / athletic feet well in taking proper routes / angles to track balls down. He reads balls well off the bat and works to get behind balls, playing through well, and covers a lot of ground, displaying range. Throws display accuracy and on line carry to his target. At the plate, hands are quick, and aggressive, working through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact as he works to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Barrel accuracy is a plus with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 80-82 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will rise quickly as more arm strength is developed through a long toss program, works to throw more strikes and develops another off speed pitch. Kaj has a lot of potential with the makings of a solid player as he continues to develop, possibly as a two-way guy.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
