09/04/2020 - HS All-Region Tournament Kaleb continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, hitting abilities are now well above average with outstanding power potential through an open setup. Hands are strong (80 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 77 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

On the mound, Kaleb has a balanced, on-time delivery throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He keeps his eyes on his target and extends through his release. He stays square to home plate with a controlled landing at the proper stride length. He does a nice job rotating towards his target as he finishes. Kaleb commands his fastball and shows a medium breaking curveball. Offensively, Kaleb has an open, athletic stance with a firm front side. He has fluid rhythm with a smooth load and short, square stride. Kaleb shows fast bat speed with a long swing path. He consistently lands the barrel to the baseball producing hard contact. Kaleb is a contact type hitter who has a line drive approach and power to all fields. In the field, Kaleb plays with effective pre-pitch actions and good footwork. He fields the ball in a low, square position with a firm glove. Kaleb plays through the baseball with good momentum towards his target. He has a quick arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. His throws have online carry across the diamond. Overall, Kaleb has the right approach on both sides of the ball and potential to get even better.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
