01/13/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Honolulu, HI Kamanui showed improvements in his overall game during his last workout with The Factory. He increased grip strength (L75 R74), exit velocity to 71 MPH, and hitting grades to 40 and 35. At the plate, Kamanui has a square set-up, good balance, and he swings in good rhythm. He swings on plane, makes good contact, and he hits with strength to the pull side. At 2nd base, Kamanui has soft/presentable hands, he uses 2 hands when fielding, and his exchange is clean with accuracy to his target.

07/17/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Kamanui is an athletic and talented 2022 2B prospect that excels in making smart decisions on the base paths. At 2B, Kamanui is on time with his prep step and presents a low/early glove. He has a clean exchange and creates momentum in his lower half to throw. He needs to continue to work on his first step to the ball and improving his side to side range. Continuing to practice game like throws in his throwing program will increase his ability to throw from multiple arm angles and on the run. At the plate, Kamanui starts in a tall stance and loads his hands back into the drive position. He has fluid rhythm in his hands, hits off a firm front side, and keeps the barrel on plane. He needs to continue to attack the inside part of the ball and clear his back hip to the ball to drive the ball gap to gap. Kamanui has a great attitude and will continue to improve with experience.

01/21/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Kapolei (Honolulu), HI Kamanui is a young, athletic, 2-way player who plays OF and 2nd base. In the OF, Kamanui has fluid footwork, agile movements to the ball, and he fields in a low/athletic position. He presents his glove well, has a quick/clean exchange, and throws with a quick arm action with carry to his target. In the INF, Kamanui has good athletic actions to the ball, he fields cleanly, and throws with momentum and accuracy to his target. At the plate, Kamanui has a square/athletic set-up, he swings in good rhythm, and stands in well balanced. He makes square contact, has a line drive swing, and makes consistent contact. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
