06/28/2009 - Team One West 2009
Kameron is a dual position athlete that has some time to develop in many aspects of the game. On the mound, he displays a below average fastball, that is straight, and sits in the upper to mid 70's. His curveball has good depth, as it has gradual downward break. Kameron has a good feel for this pitch, as he is consistent is throwing it for strikes. His overall control is above average, and is aided by his repeatable delivery. His velocity may improve upon smoothening his arm action, and ridding himself of a slight hitch in his arm stroke. Defensively, he works well, playing the ball from low to high, and displaying soft hands. At times he is late with his glove and his rhythm, causing him to be a bit stiff. With the bat, Kameron lets the ball travel, well and shows the ability to hit the ball to all fields with a line drive approach. With added strength he will improve upon his bat speed and arm strength

Kameron is a young, 2011 graduate, two way player on the mound and at 1B. Currently, he projects best at 1B where his has a ton of athletic ability and has a tremendous upside at the plate. Foot speed is average and will improve as he gains body strength and grows into his body. His feet are active and aggressive in coming to get and playing through the baseball. Footwork around the bag is outstanding. Arm action is loose and he shows accuracy on his throws. Arm strength should improve with age and a long toss program. At the plate is where Bates shows best. He has well above average ability and raw power. Bat speed is plus, plus with his hands working direct and inside the baseball. He shows a solid feel for the barrel with the ball jumping off the bat when centered. He uses all fields and utilizes his lower half well through the swing. He can hit! With 3 years to further develop, Kameron has the makings to be a special type player at the collegiate level and will get a ton of looks.
