02/26/2023 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Poplarville, MS Scooter is a 2023 RHP prospect out of Millry, Alabama. On the mound, Scooter features a 3-pitch mix and throws from a low 3/4 to side-arm angle. He has a quick arm action and squared direction to the plate and does a good job of rotating to the target. FB velo reached 77 from the mound and he worked it frequently to his arm side. CH had a good MPH difference from his FB and he worked that to his arm side as well. SL is his best pitch, with tight, late break. It features a 9-3 break and he consistently throws it for strikes. Scooter works with intent on the mound; he's very focused and works hard to attack the mitt. His ball can be heavy at times which will play from the arm angle he throws from. Working to be more consistent with his delivery should boost all of his offerings.

On the mound, Scooter showed good size and a loose, low 3/4 arm slot. He gets good movement on his pitches and he competes well in the zone. At SS, Scooter has athletic actions, he covers ground, and fields squarely. He makes plays consistently and throws with accuracy and momentum across the diamond. At the plate, Scooter has a square stance, good balance, and some bat speed. He can spray to all fields and taps into his lower 1/2. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for Scooter as he enters his high school senior year.

He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 75 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sink. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for Scooter as he enters his junior year.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
