Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/1BPosition Projection

01/18/2019 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Karan is an athletic and talented 2023 2-way prospect that worked hard all weekend. At 1B, Karan has good footwork on double plays, makes accurate throws, and has a quick release. He needs to continue to be on time with his prep step and present a low/early glove. At the plate, Karan starts in an athletic stance and has a short stride. He gets his front foot down on time, he turns his hips into the ball, and consistently makes good contact. He needs to continue to attack the inside part of the ball and be on time for the fastball. On the bump, Karan shows confidence and works north to south in his delivery. He gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and has a clean arm stroke. He needs to continue to develop his changeup and build arm strength throw a long toss program. Karan was eager to learn and we hope to see his progress in the future.

09/30/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Bellevue (Seattle), WA Karan is a young, 2-way player who pitches and plays 1B. On the hill, Karan keeps his eyes on target, he separates on time, and has good glove side lead. He has a controlled landing, finishes in a complete position, and throws strikes. At 1B, Karan has good footwork to the ball, he fields squarely, and throws with consistency and momentum across the diamond. Offensively, Karan has a square set-up, fast bat speed, and he can spray to all fields. He gets good extension through and uses some lower body. Karan can improve overall skills with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
