01/16/2015 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Karter continues to show strength and promise against good competition, most recently at the Under Armour Baseball Factory Pre-Season All America Tournament. Offensively, he showed a middle approach and kept the barrel in the entire length of the zone for consistent hard contact. He flashed good pop and was constantly pressuring the defense putting the ball in play. At short, he worked with good athleticism and fluidity to make plays with a sure glove. He threw accurately from multiple arm slots and showed comfortability with double play feeds. Overall - we enjoy working with Karter as he is a great kid that always brings competitive fiber to the diamond to pair with his sound ability.

10/15/2014 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Karter is an exciting player to work with and watch. In his most recent outing with Baseball Factory, at the AZ Junior Fall Classic, he showed his best ability to date. His trend of exponential growth continues and his ceiling keeps getting higher. Offensively, he showed a middle approach and generated good bat speed with his direct path. He was coordinated with his hands/hips and really drove the ball to the right center gap. Defensively, he had a good first step to get his body into a good fielding position. He made plays out front and threw with present carry. On the mound, he mixed his FB and CB around the zone and was free with his arm action. He has a competitive mentality and a repeatable delivery. All in all - Karter is a natural athlete that continues to shine anywhere on the field and can flat out hit - going 6-8 in a very competitive tournament.

06/14/2014 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 Pope continues to impress with outstanding abilities in all (SS, RHP, OF) spots and had a tremendous event. At the plate is where he has improved the most improving hitting and power grades through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and make consistent hard contact through a level swing path and works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields. At the event, he was 5 for 9 with a HR. Pope is a versatile player who can cover some ground in the MIF. He shows quick/active footwork as he works into an athletic fielding position. He has clean actions and works in-line toward 1B. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He plays hard and shows a ton of energy and backs up bases, showing plus instincts. . On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date, topping out at 82 mph. Fastball showed a range of 80-83 mph. Breaking ball and changeup are solid pitches that will get outs at the next level. Control is above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

10/23/2013 - Arizona Freshman/Sophomore Fall Classic Karter continues to progress in his game. This athlete showed well during his time in Arizona. Offensively, this RHH displays good rhythm and gets back into a loaded position. He has a short/compact stroke and drives the ball on a line. He consistently puts the ball in play and drove in some runs (ending the event with 3 RBI's). At the hot corner, he has good instincts and quick actions. Karter maintains good body control throughout the play and fires the ball across the diamond. Every time he takes the mound he goes to compete. This strike thrower fills up the zone and works both sides of the plate. CH is best pitch and is a good out pitch showing tail and late movement. Working on slowing down his tempo will help overall mechanics improve. Pope should make an impact this upcoming season.

05/25/2013 - College PREP - Salt Lake City, UT Karter is a talented 2-way player as a RHP/SS. He excels offensively and has some pop to the opposite field. He displays patience and lets the ball travel into the zone, and drives the ball where it's pitched. He creates extension through contact and is a line-drive type hitter. At SS, Karter maintains active pre-pitch footwork and gets into a square/athletic fielding position. He moves well to his glove side and makes the plays up the middle look easy. On the bump, this RHP has a 3-pitch mix and repeatable delivery. FB ranges from 76-77 mph and shows slight movement. CH is best off-speed and has arm-side run. He finishes well, out over his front side and has good control on all of his pitches. As a 2016 grad, Karter still has a lot of time to progress in his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
