12/27/2017 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Kasey continues to shine on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. In the OF, defensive abilities have improved, now showing well above average as he displays smooth actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He reads balls well off the bat and works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 77 mph. Fastball shows a range of 74-77 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Control is outstanding as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and a very hard worker.

He stands over the rubber well, is around the plate with all of his pitches, and his CB shows nice potential. Defensively, his feet play well, and he moves with good body control to the baseball. He shows good tempo through a strong balance point. Fastball showed a range of 73-76 mph. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with late break and shows potential as being a quality pitch. Changeup shows slight tailing action but slows his body, tipping off pitch to hitters. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
