07/22/2015 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 16U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Kaveinga is a hard worker who brings a go-getter attitude to the field everyday. On the mound, this righty has smooth separation and drives off in-line toward the plate. FB has run as he fills up the zone with strikes. He works ahead in the count and gives his defense a chance. Curveball showed to be a solid out pitch with 11/5 shape and late break (62-65 mph). He had 2 effective outings where he challenged hitters. At 3B, Davis shows active footwork as he moves well into a square fielding position. He funnels well, keeps his shoulders in-line and fires strong/accurate throws to 1B. As a hitter, this righty proved to be a tough out, battling in every at-bat. He has quick hands and whips the barrel with speed. The ball jumps off of his bat when centered as he uses the whole field. Even more power potential is there with more lower 1/2 drive. Only a 2018 grad - Kaveinga has a great work ethic and will get where he wants to go as he continues to develop.

01/16/2015 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Davis continues to show well on the diamond. This strong righty pounds the zone with strikes attacking hitters. Arm works loose/free as he maintains level shoulders and drives off the rubber downhill toward the plate. FB now tops out at 77 mph while showing sink & tail. He gets good glove side lead and finishes with extension in an athletic fielding position. At 3B, Kaveinga is aggressive and comes to get the GB. He is sure handed and funnels well to a quick/clean exchange as he plays through the ball toward his target. Offensively, this RHH steps into the box with a purpose. Barrel whips through the zone quickly as he doesn't get cheated. He hits the ball where it's pitched, driving it to all parts of the field. This 2018 grad has a ton of upside with a bright future ahead of him.

07/25/2014 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City Davis continues to project as a solid player. His power and ability to pitch are his top tools. At the plate he used the entire field well and showed the ability to barrel the ball up. He can continue to work on the rhythm of his load to improve his swing. Defensively, he showed a good fielding position, accurate arm and hands stay out in front. He can work on is overall foot speed to help improve his lateral movement. On the mound is where Davis excelled the most, with a late breaking curveball and command of his fastball. He showed solid mechanics with a good balance point and in line direction. Davis can work on working his glove side out in front to help improve extension.

06/16/2014 - National Tryout - Houston, TX Davis showed his best ability to date in his most recent Baseball Factory outing. Offensively is where he really shone through - flashing pull side pop with good bat speed and extension. He is direct with his hands, is consistently on-time and generates hard contact. Implementing a load to get more activated before the swing will increase some bat speed and fluidity. Defensively, he made plays with efficient feet and good body control. He had a clean exchange to throw, but needs to work with his hands together for a quicker transfer and release. On the mound, he threw three pitches from the high 3/4 arm slot with decent arm action, control, and some repeatability with his delivery. He has some upside as he continues to add flexibility and rhythm to his actions. In all - Davis is a hard hitting 2018 that has time to groom into a promising prospect.

12/01/2013 - Interactive Video Program - Cedar Hill (DFW), TX Kaveinga is a solid, 2-way player with good skills. At 3B, Kaveinga has good footwork, sure hands, and solid body control to the ball. He moves well for his size, has a good glove angle, and he throws with accuracy and carry to his target. On the mound, Kaveinga has a free / fluid arm action, he stands over the rubber well, and he throws strikes. He works in good rhythm, has a square stride, and he lands in a square position. At the plate, Kaveinga has a square set-up, good balance, and he stays inside the ball well. He has a solid swing, good bat speed, and he gets proper extension through the ball. Overall abilities can improve if Kaveinga can work on the following.

Infield
1. Play more through
2. Finish throws
3. Loosen actions
Pitching
1. Lower body drive
2. Finish
Offense
1. Liven hands
2. Stride
3. Lower 1/2

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
