01/12/2018 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 14-18) Kaya continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.31 with accuracy on his throws. Feet are active working in line through a clean transfer/exchange. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the baseball quicker. Glove action is soft as he sticks balls well in the zone. He uses his body well through the blocking process but needs to improve flexibility and work to get down sooner. At the plate, he continues to show as a switch hitter and has improved hitting/power potential from both sides. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and shows a feel for the barrel and he has strength in his swing with power showing best to the pull side. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

11/12/2017 - College PREP - Midland, TX Kaya is a thick, broad C/3B who will graduate in 2019. Behind the plate, pop times showed in the 2.38 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He tracks balls well and sticks balls in the zone but needs to widen his stance and needs to utilize his body more through the blocking process. At 3B, he displays clean actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper angles but needs to attack ball more and play through with his body. Glove action is soft and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows as a switch hitter with similar abilities from both sides. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact and stays inside the ball through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently. With 2 years to further develop, Kaya has a lot of potential with a lot of room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
