01/13/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament KC is a 1B/LHP in the 2024 class. In the field, he has solid pre-pitch movements and keeps his eyes behind the glove. Presents a great target for his defenders and has advanced bag awareness. Working to stay on the balls of his feet will allow for additional quickness. On the mound, he is a crafty lefty and hides the ball well. He stays in his legs and shows athletic ability by using numerous arm slots with each pitch. Controls the run games well with a solid pick-off move. His FB sat 70 with arm side run. His CB sat 65 with 2-8 shape and his CH showed sink at 67-8. In the batters box, he begins with an open stance and gains a squared stride. His timing is fluid and stays inside his feet well. He is physical and shows pull side power with fast hands (87 exit velo). Overall, KC is a solid two-way prospect with room to grow.

Hands are quick (91 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Lower half works well through the swing through an aggressive hip turn. The baseball explodes off the bat when centered. At 1B, defensive abilities are solid as he shows smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are firm and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 77 mph. Fastball shows a range of 75-77 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, KC has potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

12/27/2018 - 2018 Inaugural West Coast Winter Classic - La Verne, CA KC is an athletic 2024 2-way prospect that worked hard and made several adjustments. At 1B, KC starts in an athletic stance, he presents a low/early glove, and creates angles to the ball. He creates momentum in his lower half and makes accurate throws on double plays. He needs to continue to be on time with his prep step, properly work off the bag, and soft hand drills. At the plate, KC starts in a squared stance, has fast hands, and drives the ball to all fields. He is a patient hitter and had several hits on the week. He needs to continue to load his hands back into the drive position, attack the inside part of the ball, and create backside drive with his lower half. On the bump, KC gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and has a loose arm action. He needs to continue to work north to south in his delivery and develop a secondary pitch such as a changeup. KC was eager to learn and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
