Official Scouting Report

10/17/2020 - Fall Pro Training Experience - Nor Cal (HS) KC continues to show as a prospect on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improve as he ran his best to time to date. At the plate, is where he continues to show best through an open setup. Hands are quick (90mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. At the event, he was 2 for 5. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program.

08/23/2020 - Back to Baseball Program Only - Stockton (Sacramento), CA KC continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and is a prospect on the diamond. At the plate is where he has improved the most, displaying outstanding hitting abilities with near pro level power potential through a squared setup. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation into a strong launch position. Barrel is whipped through the zone (90 mph exit velocity) as he connects with strength. The ball jumps off of his barrel as he crushes it to the gaps. Defensively at 1B, he shows active prep with fluid actions. He works around the GB and through it as he gains ground toward his target. Footwork around the bag is solid and he is a quality receiver. Exchange is clean with accurate throws but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. Backhand is smooth with a quick release. On the mound, delivery is sound and repeatable allowing his arm action to work well to the plate. Arm strength continues to improve as he threw his top velocity to date at 75 mph. Fastball shows good sinking action. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with good downward break. He will benefit by developing a changeup. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

12/27/2018 - 2018 Inaugural West Coast Winter Classic - La Verne, CA KC is an athletic 2024 2-way prospect that worked hard and made several adjustments. At 1B, KC starts in an athletic stance, he presents a low/early glove, and creates angles to the ball. He creates momentum in his lower half and makes accurate throws on double plays. He needs to continue to be on time with his prep step, properly work off the bag, and soft hand drills. At the plate, KC starts in a squared stance, has fast hands, and drives the ball to all fields. He is a patient hitter and had several hits on the week. He needs to continue to load his hands back into the drive position, attack the inside part of the ball, and create backside drive with his lower half. On the bump, KC gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and has a loose arm action. He needs to continue to work north to south in his delivery and develop a secondary pitch such as a changeup. KC was eager to learn and we hope to see his progress in the future.

01/12/2018 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 12-14) KC is a coachable 1B/LHP who worked hard on his skills during his time in Arizona. In the field, KC shows efficient footwork and covers ground well to his glove side. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws which allows them to be consistently on-line to his target. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a square stance and is fluid getting into his load. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed which leads to consistent contact and line drives. KC can improve as a hitter by taking a square stride to the pitcher. On the mound, shows a solid delivery and stays inline towards the plate. He has a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 58mph. Breaking ball sits from 47-50mph with 3-9 break. With six more years to develop, KC has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
