07/21/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Keagan is an athletic and talented 2024 2-way prospect. Behind the dish, Keagan presents a low target, he works behind the ball, and has a good quiet primary stance. When blocking, he needs to continue to anticipate balls in the dirt, lead with his glove, and gets his chest over the ball when his lower half hits the ground. Having a “nothing gets by me mentality” will improve his mental focus when blocking. When throwing, Keagan has a two handed exchange and gains ground. Building arm strength through a long toss program will improve his ability to throw runners out. At the plate, Keagan starts in a relaxed stance and loads his hands back. He attacks the fastball, has a middle approach, and keeps the barrel on plane to the ball. He needs to continue to keep his hands tighter to his body, keep the barrel inside the ball, and create backside drive with his lower half. On the bump, Keagan has confidence in his fastball and uses his curveball when ahead in the count. He gathers over the rubber, he finds his balance point, and repeats his downhill delivery. He needs to learn how to pitch to contact and not try to over throw. Keagan will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.
