05/22/2016 - College PREP - San Antonio, TX Keagan continues to shine on the diamond. Defensively, this athletic MIF picks out the hops and moves fluidly from right to left around the GB. He has soft/sure hands with a quick release and strong arm to zip the ball with strength across the diamond to 1B. Offensively, this righty has a balanced setup with rhythm to load. Swing is quick on a direct path as he connects with pop and drives the ball to all parts of the field. Keagan is a well rounded athlete who has a ton of upside and will make things happen when he steps onto the field.

07/22/2015 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 16U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Downs has the makings of a special type of INF. He showed very well during his time at the UASW 16U Tournament. Defensively, he works lightly on the balls of his feet with smooth actions. He funnels well and has a quick release while gaining ground across the diamond toward his target. As a hitter, Keagan shows an athletic setup with good balance and rhythm in his hands. He squares the ball up consistently and drives it on a line. He went 4 for 8 with 2 singles, 2 doubles and 3 walks. He is aggressive on the base-paths and gets good reads. As he continues to develop physically (gains strength), Downs will sure be one to keep an eye on over the next couple of years.

12/20/2014 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Keagan is a very athletic player with plenty of tools. He has a desire to be the best and comes to work every day to get better. At SS, his footwork is fluid and natural. He works around the baseball with athletic actions while creating good angles. His exchange is quick and clean with the arm strength to throw from deep in the hole. On the DP his actions are fluid and smooth and will become even better as he continues to learn to bend at the knees and stay down on his transfer. At the plate, he shows smooth rhythm and timing hitting off a stiff front with a tall backside allowing the lower half to drive through the baseball. Swing path is level as he connects and hits line-drives. As he continues to work on his load staying balanced inside of his feet and body his power will improve as well as bat speed. Downs is a hard worker who should find success on the diamond.

10/26/2014 - College PREP - Corpus Christi, TX Keagan is a sophomore with good athletic ability and projects as a middle infielder. At SS, he uses his efficient footwork, soft/sure hands and quick release to give good DP feeds. He does a great job of playing through the BH, working from right to left. Offensively, he has an aggressive swing that's square to the plate. He gets good rotation from his lower 1/2 and works through the middle of the field. Refining his timing will make him a better hitter. Keagan is an athletic ballplayer with a bright future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
