Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/LHPPosition Projection

06/25/2016 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Keanuhea is a very coachable 2-way player who worked very hard during his time in Omaha. Offensively, this LH swinger has game changing power. He steps into the box with an aggressive approach looking to swing it. He takes a hack barreling the ball up, hitting it where it's pitched and driving it to the deep parts of the field (exit velocity = 90 mph). At 1B - Keanuhea hustles around the GB and into a square fielding position. He tracks the ball into his mitt and makes the plays with soft hands. He moves well around the bag and adjusts to throws. On the mound, this LHP works quickly and doesn't give hitters time to get settled. He has smooth separation and stays directional toward the dish. He works the ball to both sides of the plate and isn't afraid to come in the RHH's. Added velocity will come by utilizing his big frame and driving downhill toward the dish. Keanuhea is a great teammate who leaves it all of the field.

01/31/2016 - College PREP - Kapolei (Honolulu), HI Keanuhea is a L/L 2-way player (LHP/1B) who has a big frame (6'3"/240). With the bat, this lefty steps into the box looking to swing it. Hands are quick as he takes an aggressive hack. He barrels the ball up and drives it to the gaps. At 1B, Keanuhea hustles around the GB and into a square fielding position. He moves well around the 1B bag and can adjust to balls thrown up and down the line. On the mound, this LHP has a 3-pitch mix coming from a high 3/4 arm slot. He works to a tall balance point, gets good glove-side lead/tuck and stays directional toward the plate. FB tops out at 73 mph while showing slight tail. Breaking ball has 1/7 shape with 'slider' like action. Working to be more consistent with his release point will help to improve CB 'bite'. Changeup has tail and compliments his FB well - 60-62 mph. More lower 1/2 drive off of the rubber will help to get more into his FB. Keanuhea is a solid player who should find success in this his senior year.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
