10/02/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Kansas City, KS Keaton continues show as a prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 6.92 runner. At SS, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Throws are accurate with carry across the diamond. He moves well laterally and utilizes his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball shows a range 74-75 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 3/9 shape with across break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

05/23/2021 - Official Player Development Membership - Sauget (St. Louis), IL Keaton is a class of 2025 SS/RHP prospect. He shows off very good athleticism for his age. In the field, he does an excellent job working downhill and fielding the baseball from down to up. He does a good job of creating angles when fielding the baseball. Fields the baseball out front and creates momentum to throw across the diamond. At the plate, he shows an advanced approach and an ability to hit the ball hard to all parts of the field. He does a good job getting into his lower ½ and had exit velos as high as 78 MPH. Stays balanced throughout his swing. On the mound, he shows clean mechanics. Delivers all pitches from a low ¾ arm slot. He shows the ability to throw 3 pitches and command both his fastball and breaking ball. Breaking ball has 10-4 breaking action. Fastball is best pitch, has late running action, and was up to 75 MPH. Keaton is a very good prospect and we hope to see him at another event in the future.

01/08/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season Prospects Tournament (MS) Keaton continues to show as a prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, hitting potential has improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At SS, he continues to shine as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft and presents well out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increase foot quickness. Throws are accurate with carry across the diamond. He made a great backhand play, hosing the runner at 1B. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 59-63 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with loose spin and gradual break. He maintains arm speed but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Control is well above average as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

10/11/2020 - Official Player Development Membership - Sauget (St. Louis), IL Keaton is a SS/RHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. At SS, Keaton shows efficient footwork and covers ground well. He fields in an athletic position and has a clean exchange, making accurate, on-line throws to his target. Presenting his hands out in front to the ball can help Keaton field ground balls more efficiently. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a square stride. He shows fluid rhythm to load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed, leading to solid line drives. Keaton can produce more pop off the barrel by getting more extension through the ball. On the mound, Keaton shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 65mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 55-58mph with 9-3 break. Changeup sits from 55-56mph. Gathering to a balance point over the rubber can help Keaton be more controlled throughout his delivery. With five more years to develop, Keaton has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

07/16/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Sauget (St. Louis), IL Keaton worked out at SS and on the mound during his last workout with The Factory. Defensively, Keaton has a presentable glove, an athletic approach, and efficient footwork to the ball. He has a good 1st step, a clean exchange, and he throws with direction across the diamond. On the mound, Keaton has a high 3/4 arm slot, he gets good extension on his pitches, and he finishes in a complete position. Offensively, Keaton has a tall/square set-up, he swings in good rhythm, and swings on plane. He stays inside the baseball and shows the ability to spray to all fields.

01/18/2019 - Baseball Factory Spring Training at Historic Dodgertown Keaton is an athletic and talented 2025 SS prospect that was eager to learn. At SS, Keaton starts in an athletic stance, he on time with his prep step, and creates angles to the ball. He fields the ball out in front of his body, he has a clean exchange, and throws from multiple arm angles. He needs to continue to be on time with his prep step, build arm strength, and improve his first step to the ball. At the plate, Keaton starts in a closed stance, gets his front foot down on time, and stays balanced through contact. His hips work to the ball and he is a line drive hitter. Continuing to attack the inside part of the ball and creating backside drive with his lower half will improve bat speed. Keaton is very coachable and we hope to see his progress in the future.

10/28/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Joplin, MO Keaton is a young, thin, 2-way player who plays SS and OF. In the INF, Keaton has active feet, agile movements, and he fields squarely and athletically. He has firm hands, a clean exchange, and throws with momentum from a short arm action to his target. In the OF, Keaton has quick feet, he fields aggressively, and takes good angles; throwing with accuracy and carry to his target. At the plate, Keaton has a closed stance, he loads well, and stands in well balanced. He is selective at the plate, his swing is level, and he works the ball to the opposite field. Keaton can continue to get better if he can work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
