Official Scouting Report

  • 1B/LHPPosition Projection

12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Keaton is a coachable 1B/LHP prospect who worked on his skills during his time at the Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City. In the field, Keaton makes the routine plays and keeps his throws accurate to his target. Getting into a more athletic fielding position can help Keaton improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance with comfortable hands. He takes a level swing and rotates his core well, driving the ball to his pull side. Keaton can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. On the mound, Keaton gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 74mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 64-66mph. Staying inline towards the plate can help Keaton improve as a pitcher. Overall, Keaton is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

11/04/2018 - College PREP - Tampa, FL Keaton is an athletic and talented 2020 2-way prospect. At 1B, Keaton is on time with his prep step, he presents a low/early glove, and works from the ground up. He has good footwork off the bag and picks the ball well. At the plate, Keaton starts in an athletic stance, loads his hands back into the dive position, and creates backside rotation with his lower half. He has a direct path to the ball and drives the ball gap to gap. On the bump, Keaton gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and stays squared toward the plate. He repeats his delivery and rides his back leg toward the plate. His curveball has a loose spin and his change up has good depth down in the zone. Keaton will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
