Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

03/22/2015 - College PREP - Greenville, SC Taylor continues to show as an OF/RHP but currently projects best in the OF for the next level where he has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, defensive grade are outstanding as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are quick / athletic as he works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target through an aggressive approach. He reads balls well off the bat, covers a lot of ground as he displays range in the OF. Throws are accurate with life, accuracy, and on line carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared / athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating bat speed through a level swing path. Barrel accuracy is a plus and has strength in his swing with baseball exploding off the bat when centered, mainly to the pull side. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 79-81 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with late / sharp break and shows potential as being a quality pitch. He slows arm speed on his changeup, tipping off pitch to hitters. Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength, works to throw more strikes and develops another off speed pitch.

06/17/2014 - National Tryout - Charleston, WV Keaton has molded himself into quite a prospect on the diamond. In the OF, he tracks down balls quickly with athletic actions and plus speed (6.69). Ball is quick from glove to hand as he fires it into his target. With the bat, Taylor shows a balanced approach with a strong base. He waits for his pitch and swings on a level path, connecting and driving the ball. On the bump, this RHP shows a repeatable delivery as he works in-line and downhill toward the dish. FB tops out at 81 mph while curveball has 12/6 shape with sharp/late break. An all-around talent, Keaton's skills will translate well into the next level.

01/18/2013 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Keaton is a 2-way player as a SS/RHP. He improved offensively during his time at Pirate City. He lowered his 60 time, now running a 7.13. As a hitter, he gets into a square/athletic stance with a solid lower 1/2. He displays patience, waiting for his pitch as he had 3 walks at the event. At SS, he shows good pre-pitch footwork and gets into an athletic position. He moves well around the groundball and has some lateral range. DP feeds are sure and he has a clean exchange. On the mound, Keaton works quickly and is around the plate with all of his pitches. He reaches a tall balance point and gets good extension on his follow through. Increased arm strength and a more athletic finish will help to improve mound effectiveness. Taylor is a tough player who fights through adversity. He will continue to improve as he is only a 2015 graduate.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
