Official Scouting Report

  • 2BPosition Projection

08/02/2018 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Historic Dodgertown (Ages 12-14) Keegan is an athletic and talented 2022 2B prospect that works hard and made several adjustments throughout the week at Vero Beach. At 2B, Keegan has an active prep step, presents a low/early glove, and has good footwork on double plays. He needs to continue to improve his first step quickness to the ball and anticipate the ball off the bat. Continuing to practice game like throws in his throwing program will increase his ability to throw from multiple arm angles and on the run. At the plate, Keegan starts in an athletic stance, he loads his hands back into the drive position, and he attacks the inside part of the ball. Creating backside rotation, and keeping his head down at contact will create good direction thru the ball. Keegan will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

12/28/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Rindge, NH Keegan is a young 2nd baseman with a thin frame. Defensively, Keegan plays low to the ground, he keeps the ball in front of his body, and flashes a nice backhand. He has a clean exchange and throws with direction to his target. At the plate, Keegan has a square set-up, good balance, and he repeats his swing. He keeps his head still, and makes consistent contact. Keegan can improve skills with work on the following.

Defense
1. Sure up glove
2. Avoid stabbing
3. Arm strength
Offense
1. Shorten swing
2. Rhythm/timing
3. Lower body

09/23/2017 - FDI Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (12-14) Keegan is a coachable player who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a crouched stance and leads well with his lower half. He works to barrel up the baseball and produces solid contact to his pull side. Keegan can improve as a hitter by shortening his stride and by working a smoother load into his swing. With five more years to develop, Keegan has the time and potential to further progress his skills at the plate.

07/17/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Rindge, NH Keegan is a 2B who will graduate in 2022. Defensively at 2B, he hustles hard from right to left as he tries to work around the GB. He comes up with a clean exchange and makes accurate throws to his target. With the bat, this RHH keeps his backside engaged. He swings on-plane through the zone and looks to drive pitches back up through the middle of the field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Lateral quickness
2. Develop soft hands
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Offense
1. Develop rhythm
2. Improve bat speed
3. Lower 1/2 drive

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
