07/11/2014 - 2014 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Team One South
Keegan is a very talented player that continues to show an upward trend of ability time and time again. Defensively, he was quick and efficient with his feet to make plays with soft hands in front. He had exceptional body control allowing him to get to balls in the gaps and stay through with body momentum to throw. His arm strength was very good, hitting 89 MPH on the gun. Offensively, he was strong at contact with quick hands and loose actions. He generated natural leverage and was excellent with his barrel control to and through contact. He hit big league fly balls and has the feel to hit. Overall - Keegan is an elite player in the 2015 class, with size and tools that play.
01/17/2014 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament
Meyn has a large frame with long limbs and width at 6-foot-3 and 185 pounds, giving him room to fill out as he physically matures. That is mostly relevant for him in terms of raw power, where he should begin to see a move up the scale as he is able to impart more strength at contact, allowing him to maximize the leverage in his swing to drive balls farther and deeper. He drives the ball from gap to gap with ease at present, thanks to a short quick move to contact and a coordinated move thru contact that allows for frequent contact on the good part of the barrel. Defensively, he moves with ease and some fluidity, and features a very strong arm. He ran 6.95 in the 60 yard dash this time out, a couple of tenths off what we've seen before, but still enough to fit the bill of the potential five tool player.
11/02/2013 - 2013 Under Armour Futures Series Texas
Keegan continues to get better every time we see him. At the UA Futures Texas he showed off his outstanding tools as well as the ability to use those tools in the game. His 6'3", 185 pound frame has a professional look already, with athletic actions and excellent speed (6.68 in the 60). At the plate he drives balls to all parts of the park, making consistent hard contact. His swing is well-coordinated with some natural lift that should lead to more HR power in the future. In the outfield, he reacts well to balls off the bat, takes solid routes, and has an outstanding throwing arms. The ball jumps out of his hand and has on-line carry. Keegan also jumped on the mound and showed a FB(86-87 mph)and CB mix that was very effective. Overall, this is the prototypical RF prospect with the power, speed and arm tools to attract a lot of attention.
07/29/2013 - Under Armour Southwest Championships, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One
Meyn showed as OF/RHP and continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Defensive grade in the OF is now at a pro level. He utilizes his quick feet well in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls and works to get behind, playing through well with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and takes proper first steps. Throws are accurate with on line carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly, displaying outstanding arm strength in the OF. At the plate, hitting and power grades have improved as well. Hands are quick, generating plus bat speed to and through the baseball, creating extension. He shows a feel for the barrel with the baseball exploding off the bat when centered and works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. He will hit and hit with power at the next level. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 81-83 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with sharp break. Command / control is a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches and locates to both sides of the plate as he attacks hitters. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a hard worker and is very coachable. Keegan has a ton of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities, possibly as a two-way guy.
01/18/2013 - 2013 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament
Keegan is a 2015 two-position player who showed very well in the outfield and on the mound at the Under Armour All America Pre-Season Tournament. The tall, lean right-hander pitches to contact, getting a lot of ground balls with a running fastball, a 10/4 shaped breaking ball, and a changeup. He changes speeds effectively and is around the zone consistently. He works best out of the wind-up and needs to improve delivery from the stretch. Off-speed pitches will improve as he learns to stay on top of them consistently. In the outfield, his footwork is fluid, he gets rid of the ball quickly, and his throws are accurate. Glove extension is solid and he works well all the way through the play. He gets uphill at times with his shoulders, and can be more aggressive on his approach. With the bat, Keegan has a strong set-up, gets to a solid launch position and maintains extension through contact. His front foot gets down late at times which hurts his timing and barrel contact. He has some mechanical issues to clean up in each area, but a good looking athlete with a projectable body and three high school seasons ahead of him.
