01/16/2009 - Under Armour Pre-Season All America - 2009 Keith is a hard-charging outfielder with plus makeup. Aggressive player with a good arm and solid glove- and footwork. Exchange needs to quicken. At the plate, he shows pretty good hands and a line drive approach. Some drift in his swing and average batspeed at present. Tends to feel for the pitch instead of swinging at it which keeps him from getting the ball to jump off of his barrel. Plays the game with focus and intensity. Has the chance to be a solid college player.

10/15/2008 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic - 2008 Poverud showed tremendous defensive instincts, along with well above average defensive ability. Can play all three outfield spots, and throws very well also. Has potential to be a real asset with the glove at the college level. At the plate, he was very aggressive and showed excellent hand-eye coordination along with a quick bat and some power potential. Can work to flatten out his stroke, needs to eliminate slight upper cut. His lower body works well, and gives him a good hitting foundation to build upon. Overall, a solid college prospect.

01/11/2008 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America - 2008 Keith is strong and athletic with good range and foot speed. In the OF, he plays through the ball nicely and has arm strength. Gets to the ball and gets rid of it quickly. Plays hard in the field. Swing is quick and direct with life in the barrel. Has power mostly to the pull side. Needs to stay closed longer to increase power potential and to allow body to better adjust to the ball. Overall, Keith has ability and can play at the next level but must work hard to contribute early in college. He is still young and has plenty of time.

12/27/2007 - Christmas Camp and Tournament - 2007 Poverud has a compact frame with good present physical strength. He has good life in his actions, both with the glove and the bat. At the plate, he combined a good right handed stroke with a patient approach and good strike zone recognition. He attacked the ball and hit through it well out front. From the outfield, he showed a solid throwing arm with good accuracy. His reads and jumps on balls were good as well. Ran 7.20 in the 60-yard dash, down from the 7.35 we saw previously.

07/12/2007 - College PREP - Apple Valley, MN Keith is a strong kid with two more years to get stronger and improve. In the OF, shows a strong arm with proper arm action. To improve OF production, needs to work on becoming quicker in the feet so body can get into position faster. At the plate, shows quiet quick hands that have the ability to drive balls to the opposite field. Extends through the ball well. Needs to work on keeping the bat level. Having a level plane instead of swinging uphill will create greater carry on the ball. Young kid with some potential.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
