03/14/2021 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Manalapan, NJ Kellen is a 2024 OF/RHP. Tall frame athletic build with square shoulders, projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Primary outfielder, moves well in the outfield on feet and takes nice angles to ball. Fields the ball out front and works through it, loose arm action with an over the top release point. Creates momentum to target with accurate and online throws. Right-handed pitcher with long levers and projectible frame. Does a good job of keeping eyes on target and working down the mound. Over the top release allows him to plane out. FB showed slight tailing action. Mixed in a 9/3 shaped curveball and a developing changeup. As Kellen incorporates his lower half, as well as a long toss throwing program, his arm strength and command will improve. Hits from the right side with a tall and closed stance. Strong swing, with an exit velocity of 89mph, who showed ability to make hard contact into both gaps. Has a bright future at the next level with continued development and growth.

07/21/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Kellen continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. At the plate, hitting / power have improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 64 mph. Fastball showed a range of 62-64 mph Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

03/10/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Manalapan, NJ Kellen is a long/athletic, 2-way player who plays OF and RHP. In the OF, Kellen has active feet, he fields aggressively, and he covers ground well. He makes plays, his exchange is clean, and he throws with momentum and consistency from a loose arm action to his target. On the mound, Kellen has a good arm circle, he drives toward home plate, and competes in the zone. Offensively, Kellen has an athletic set-up, he loads well, and swings in good rhythm. He has a fast/aggressive swing, he makes level contact, and he works the middle of the field using his lower body. Overall skills can improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
