Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

10/03/2010 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Ken showed improvements in his game during his last workout in Trenton, NJ. He improved at both positions, 3B, and on the mound. In the INF, Ken presents his glove well, shows soft hands, and he plays through the ball well. He has good hands and feet, a quick exchange, and throws with accuracy to his target. Ken can continue to get better with added strength and carry across the diamond. On the mound, Ken showed improvements in his delivery and control. He gets to his balance point well, keeps his eyes to his target, and he gets good separation. Ken has a compact delivery, he keeps his arm speed the same with all of his pitches, and he is around the plate. Ken needs to add arm speed and life to his pitches in order to get better. At the plate, Ken improved both his hitting and power grades both from 38 to 42. He has good balance and barrel accuracy and a level swing. Ben has a no-stride approach, he has direct hands to the ball, and he finds the barrel of the bat. Offensive numbers can continue to get better with more live hands and help driving the outside pitch.

08/01/2010 - College Prep Super Regional - West Lawn, PA - AM Ken is a tall, athletic, 2-way player that currently projects better on the mound than at 3rd base. On the hill, Ken has good direction toward the plate and he repeats his delivery well. He keeps his eyes to his target and increased his velocity when throwing from the stretch. If Ken can give more effort, and finish off his pitches, abilities on the mound can get better. At 3B, Ken has decent hands and he makes plays on balls hit his way. He presents his glove well, gets good momentum toward his target, and he throws accurately. Defensive grades can get better if Ken can attack the ball more aggressively, lighten his feet, and get his glove down sooner. Offensively, Ken has good balance and a quiet approach. He has a loose grip, he can spray to all fields, and shows good barrel accuracy. Hitting can further improve with more aggressiveness and better use of his lower 1/2.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
