Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/CPosition Projection

10/17/2020 - Fall Pro Training Experience - NC (HS) Kenneth is a RHP/C prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Fall Pro Training Experience. On the mound, Kenneth gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release, finishing with his chest over his front knee. Kenneth shows a four pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 79mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 68-69mph with 10-4 break. Changeup sits from 63-65mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Knuckleball sits from 65-66mph. Striding square toward the plate can help Kenneth improve his pitch command. Behind the plate, Kenneth sits in a relaxed stance and receives with soft hands. His exchange is smooth and he throws with a loose arm, creating good long hops to the 2B bag. Kenneth can block more dirt balls by moving to block sooner. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a short stride. He gets into a small load and sprays the ball to all fields. Taking a more level swing path can help Kenneth barrel up more baseballs. Overall, Kenneth is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

09/13/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Greenville, SC Kenneth is a lean RHP/C who has a promising future on the diamond. On the mound, he works to a controlled balance point, has smooth separation and fires from a clean/loose arm action. He gets strong glove-side lead and stays directional toward the dish. FB ranges from73-78 mph with good arm side run. Breaking ball shows 11/5 shape with late, sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for pitch with arm side run. He throws a knuckleball that displays tumbling action. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, but needs to get down sooner and improve lateral movements. Pop times showed in the 2.57 range with accuracy / carry on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 4 years to further develop, Kenneth has an upside on the mound with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
