06/16/2011 - Omaha Pro Select Training and Tournament - Week 1 Ken is a tall, athletic two-way player as a LHP and in the OF that will graduate in 2012. Currently, he projects best on the mound for the next level. Delivery is repeatable and sound showing proper mechanics that allows his arm action to work free to the plate. Arm slot is high 3/4 with a long arc and good arm speed. Arm strength is average as he will benefit by getting on a long toss program to raise velocities. Fastball shows a range of 76-80 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball is best off-speed pitch displaying 1/7 shape with tight spin and is a quality out pitch at the next level. Changeup shows average feel for with sinking action. He attacks hitters; throwing strikes will all his pitches and works to get ahead. In the OF, foot speed is solid as indicated by his 7.27 60 time. Feet are active as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls in the OF but needs to work on getting behind balls more to play through with momentum to his target. Offensively, Waukau shows a balanced setup and loads well getting into a strong launch position. Hands are quick, working directly to the ball and show a solid feel for the barrel. He needs to work on keeping hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he works to keep the barrel through baseball at contact. At the event, he was 5 for 9. Ken has plus makeup and is very coachable. He has potential on the mound and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.
