Official Scouting Report

12/03/2017 - College PREP - Sacramento, CA Kenny continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, defensive abilities have improved as he displays aggressive / clean actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through well with momentum to his target. Glove action is soft and he presents well, utilizing two hands through the process. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved as well through a squared setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work to and through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Hitting abilities will continue to improve as he works to get stride foot down sooner to work on time.

07/24/2015 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Kenny showed primarily as a 3B at the Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City. Defensively, he made plays with a sure glove and got his hands in front consistently. He worked to present the glove earlier to field (eliminating a glove flip) - and worked to quicken his release (eliminating a glove tap). He also worked to use his lower half to throw, but fielding through the baseball and staying low to gain ground with strength. Offensively, he took the barrel to the baseball and showed some pop in the bat. He was loose throughout his swing and showed hand/hip coordination. He worked in the cage on contact points, allowing the ball to travel and hitting it where it's pitched. In all - Kenny is a good player that has time to add general physical strength which will come with maturity over the next couple of years.

12/07/2014 - Interactive Video Program - Sacramento, CA Kenny is a young 2-way player as a 3B/OF. At the hot corner, he shows active footwork and moves well on the balls of his feet. He moves well laterally, fields the ball cleanly, and gets his shoulders in-line to throw. In the OF, he hustles into position behind the fly-ball with a quick 1st step. He secures the ball, gathers well and crow-hops gaining ground toward his target. With the bat, this RHH shows an open stance with a solid base. Swing path is short as he connects and drives the ball up the middle of the field. He engages his lower 1/2 well and has some pop off of his barrel. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Infield
1. Play through ball
2. Pre-pitch footwork
Outfield
1. Arm strength (long toss)
2. Use 2 hands
Offense
1. Extension through contact
2. Level out swing path

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
