12/27/2018 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Kevin is a long, athletic two-way player who is currently more advanced as a first baseman. He shows big time pop and power potential from his large frame . His swing is fluid and balanced as he delivers the barrel with explosive bat speed. He extends through contact and drives the ball deep into the gaps. At first, he shows agile footwork around the bag to create good angles. He flashes soft, sure hands to pick the ball and help his infielders. On the hill, he features a fastball up to 76mph, am 11-5 curveball and a sinking changeup. He has feel on the mound and executes his pitches well to keep hitters off balance. Developing his curveball will make him more unpredictable and harder to hit. Kevin is a talented player with plenty of upside.

11/10/2018 - College PREP - Fremont (San Jose), CA Kevin is an atheltic 1B/RHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. In the field, Kevin shows active footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He fields in an athletic position and makes a clean exchange to throw, keeping his throws accurate with good carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He gets into his load well and hits from a firm front side. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed which leads to loud contact to all fields. On the mound, Kevin keeps his eyes on target as he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He keeps his pitches around the zone and finishes square to the plate. Kevin shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 80mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 79-72mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 69-70mph with arm side run as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall, Kevin is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

06/23/2018 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Kevin continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 1B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / fluid actions. He works to square ball up and makes the routine plays. He displays proper footwork around the bag and he is a quality receiver. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying well above average power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength and sprays the ball to all fields. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 69-70 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Control is well above average as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

05/20/2018 - College PREP - Redwood City (San Francisco/San Jose), CA Kevin is a tall, lanky built 1B/RHP prospect who has a versatile skill set. Offensively, Kevin has a square setup with a centered balance. He has smooth rhythm with a good load and short stride as he uses his lower half throughout his swing. Kevin shows fast bat speed with quick hands and a direct swing path. He gets good separation and produces consistent contact. Kevin is a line drive type hitter who has the ability to spray to all fields. In the field, Kevin works hard and makes the routine plays. He fields the ball with a firm glove. Kevin is working to play through the baseball and speed up his exchange. He throws from a low 3/4 arm slot and is developing arm strength. On the mound, Kevin has a balanced, on-time delivery throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He picks up his target early and stays square to home plate. Kevin does a nice job rotating with his hips and pivoting off his back foot. He commands his fastball with tail movement. Kevin also locates his medium breaking curveball. Overall, Kevin is a well-rounded prospect who has the right approach.

12/27/2017 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Kevin is a tall, lean 1B/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying solid hitting abilities with well above average power potential through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a compact swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Barrel accuracy is a plus and has strength in his swing, displaying gap-to-gap pop. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 70-74 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for pitch. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches for the next level. Control is well above averagae as he attacks hitters and through strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard. With 2 years to further develop, Kevin has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
