Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/OFPosition Projection

02/19/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Brentwood (Long Island), NY Kevin again showed improvements in all areas of his game during his last workout. He projects as a solid, 2-way player at 3B and OF. In the INF, Kevin has good tools, soft hands, and active feet. He fields low, has a clean exchange, and a strong/accurate arm across the diamond. In the OF, Kevin has athletic actions, quick feet, and he reads the ball of the bat well. He moves well laterally, and has a loose/accurate arm with carry to his cut off man. At the plate, Kevin has a tall set-up, quick hands, and an aggressive swing. He has explosive bat speed and drives the ball gap to gap. Hitting numbers spiked to 50's and Kevin's stock continues to rise.

12/11/2016 - National Tryout Plus - Nyack (NYC), NY Kevin continues to show a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best through a squared / athletic setup. He shows an aggressive approach and works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. At 3B, feet are active as he works to square balls up. Feet are aggressive but needs to attack balls more and play through with his body. Glove action is clean but will benefit by presenting more out front. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 74-78 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but needs to develop more movement on pitch. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

01/15/2016 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Kevin continues to show that he is a strong athlete for his class. Offensively, this LHH displayed great barrel control with the ability to drive the ball to all fields. His hand action is loose and stays through the ball. Defensively, Bowerosen shows good body control with accurate throws to his target. Grades will improve as he works on presenting his hands further out in front, staying chest over knees. On the mound, Kevin displayed clean mechanics with a free and easy arm action. His front side works well with good glove action. Developing his secondary pitches will add value to his overall future on the mound. Only an 8th grader, Kevin has a solid skill set that makes him a player to keep on your radar for the future.

08/18/2015 - Interactive Video Program - Trenton, NJ Kevin is a very talented 2-way player (1B/RHP who has an athletic/projectable build (5'9"/150). With the bat, this strong righty shows a balanced setup with fluid rhythm. He has loose hands, whips the barrel with speed and connects with pop. He hits the ball where it's pitched, resulting in line-drives to all parts of the field. At 1B, he shows active footwork and comes to get the GB. He tracks the ball into his mitt with the ability to pick it. On the mound, Kevin throws a 3-pitch mix from a high 3/4 arm slot and loose/clean arm action. He works to a tall/controlled balance point, maintains level shoulders and repeats his delivery well. FB ranges from 77-80 mph as he works it to both sides of the plate. Separation is smooth as he drives off in-line toward the plate. Changeup has good sink complimenting his FB well. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Offense
1. Shorter/more direct swing path
2. Contact points
3. Let ball travel
Defense
1. Glove presentation
2. Footwork around 1B
Pitching
1. Command/control
2. Continue to develop CB

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
