Official Scouting Report

  • 3BPosition Projection

12/27/2016 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Kevin has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (96 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing with the baseball exploding off the bat when centered. At the event, he was 2 for 5 with a 2B and 3B. At 3B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active and he displays a clean glove but will benefit by presenting hands more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and a great teammate.

08/07/2016 - College PREP - Wilmington, DE Kevin is a big strong kid who uses his size and strength both at third and at the dish. He has some serious pop as the ball jumps off his bat, especially to the pull side. He is fluid at the plate, getting his hands loaded to a power position and his front foot down on time. His bat is quick through the zone and he has a good feel for getting the barrel to the ball consistently. At the hot corner, Kevin has a good arm with on line carry across the diamond. He does work pre pitch with his active feet getting to a good fielding position and extending his range to show off his quick release. Smoothing out the backhand play is the final step to becoming a complete infielder. Kevin can really play and has the projection in his tools to be a solid prospect for the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
