06/25/2021 - Baseball Factory All-State Tournament (MS) Kevin continues to shine on the diamond. At 3B, he displays smooth/athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Glove action is soft/sure and presents out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a closed setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 70 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

07/23/2020 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Kevin is a tall, lean 3B/RHP who will graduate in 2025. At 3B, he displays clean/smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 66-67 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with loose spin and gradual break. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable. With 5 years to further develop, Kevin has potential with time and room to continue to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
