07/27/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Kevin continues to show steady progress in his baseball abilities. At the plate, he displays solid power potential through a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a plus feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. At 1B, he displays smooth fluid actions. Feet are aggressive and displays proper foot work around the bag. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy to his throws but he will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable, and plays the game hard.

06/23/2018 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Kevin continues to show a promising future on the diamond. At 1B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He works to square ball up and makes the routine plays. He displays proper footwork around the bag and he is a quality receiver. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength and sprays the ball to all fields. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 72 mph. Fastball showed a range of 69-72 mph Control is well above average as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound.

05/20/2018 - College PREP - Henrico, VA Kevin is a tall, solid 1B/RHP who has a bright future on the diamond. At 1B, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active and he displays proper footwork around the bag. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves and he continues to increase foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the bump, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his loose, quick arm action to work well to the plate. Fastball showed range of 66-68 mph with tailing action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Kevin has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
