01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Kevin exhibits the signs of a next level backstop with solid offensive ability. At the plate, he had a middle approach and worked consistently on-time to launch with strength in his lower half. He kept his head quiet for plus barrel accuracy and got extended through contact well. His jumps on the bases were exemplary and he was aggressive pressuring the defense. Behind the plate, he sat athletically and received with a soft/sure glove. He had a good transfer and popped to his feet on-time to throw consistently on the bag at second. He was quick down to block and was always anticipating plays, throwing out 3 runners. Overall - Kevin is a phenomenal young man that plays the game the right way with strong ability and aptitude.

10/07/2015 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic Kevin continues to show a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.05 runner. At the plate, he shows outstanding power potential with baseball exploding off the bat when centered. He works to stay inside the ball and displays pop to all fields. At the event, he was 2 for 8 with a 2B. Behind the plate, pop times showed in the low 2.00 range with accuracy / carry on his throws. He is a leader behind the plate and works hard day in and day out. Kevin has the mental makeup an tools that will play at a high level.

09/16/2015 - Under Armour Fall Classic, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Kevin continues to show the leadership type of qualities that make a ball club better. Behind the dish, his athletic actions allow him to move quickly laterally around pitches in the dirt. He is vocal and takes charge of his defense. Throws to 2B are on the bag as he replaces his feet and gains ground toward 2B. Although primarily a catcher - Kevin has the ability to play multiple spots on the diamond. With the bat, Kevin has smooth rhythm to load with good zone awareness. Barrel is whipped through the zone with quick hands as he connects and drives the ball with pop (exit velocity = 86 mph. He continues to impress coaches with his 'can do' attitude and hard working mentality.

07/29/2015 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Kevin continues to shine on the diamond. He is a very hard worker who has leadership type qualities. At the plate, Kevin has an athletic setup with active hands and fluid rhythm to load. He has a good eye and doesn't swing at much out of the zone (drawing 3 walks). Hands are quick as he whips the barrel to and through the zone with speed as he connects with pop (exit velocity = 86 mph). He battles and proved to be a tough out. Behind the dish, Kevin is a vocal leader who's always thinking a play ahead. Transfer/exchange is smooth as he gains ground toward 2B - putting strong throws on the bag. Kevin has a ton of upside and is a solid all-around player who can make things happen when he steps onto the field.

06/13/2015 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 Kevin continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved, now a well above average runner at 7.06. He utilizes his quick, athletic feet well in working in line to his target through a quick / clean exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed in the low 2.09 range. Arm strength is outstanding with life / carry / accuracy on his throws. Receiving / blocking skills show as outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating plus bat speed through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing with baseball exploding off the bat when centered as he works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. He will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

04/26/2015 - College PREP - Plymouth Meeting (Philadelphia), PA Kevin continues to show as a C/OF and has improved his baseball abilities behind the plate, where he projects best for the next level. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 1.95. He works in line and gets rid of the baseball quickly with life, accuracy, and on line carry on his throws, displaying outstanding arm strength. Receiving / blocking show as outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls and works to get behind balls, playing through with momentum to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating bat speed through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball and shows good barrel accuracy as he utilizes all fields, displaying gap to gap pop. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to get stride foot down sooner to work on time.

03/29/2015 - College PREP - Ashburn (DC), VA Kevin continues to show strong play ability and future upside. Defensively behind the dish, he sat athletically and received with soft/sure hands out in front. He worked his feet efficiently and showed his consistent 2.1 pops. He was clean with his exchange and anticipated down to block, deadening the ball in front. Offensively, he showed a good balanced setup and got his hands activated to hit. He showed good bat speed with strong barrel accuracy for plus pop. In the OF, he worked with sure hands and got his body behind the ball to play through with momentum. He was accurate with his throws and showed good carry by spinning a four-seam with tight rotation. Becoming more aggressive with his feet and eliminating drift to the ball will boost play in the OF. In all - Kevin is an athletic, strong young player that has another year to continue his growth and refine his tools for the next level.

12/20/2014 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Kevin is a prototypical, durable leader behind the plate. His arm strength and hands are definite plus attributes. He displays quick feet and the ability to deaden the ball when blocking. A faithful, daily throwing program will help to further develop and enhance his throwing mechanics. Offensively he proved to be a good situational hitter with pull-side pop. He showed he could track the baseball well and had good balance. Developing a more neutral stance and ability to work back towards the pitcher will help him progress to the next level. Kevin continues to do a great job each time we see him and we are looking forward to his continued progress as he enters his junior season.

12/14/2014 - College PREP - Madison (NYC), NJ Kevin is a defensive specialist behind the dish. Defensively, he sits in well with athletic actions. Transfer/exchange is quick/clean as he gain ground and fires the ball accurately to 2B in the 2.10 range. With the bat, this RHH shows an open stance with rhythm in his hands. He takes an aggressive hack and drives the barrel to and through the zone. A solid all-around prospect - Kevin has a bright future ahead in the game.

10/15/2014 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Kevin is a solid catcher that will graduate in 2016. Feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times show in the 2.10 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, he shows a squared stance with balance. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed to and through the point of contact, creating extension. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields and shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he levels out swing path. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. With 2 years to further develop, Kevin has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
