07/07/2014 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Kevin showed consistency in his ability in his most recent Baseball Factory outing. Defensively, he tracked it in to receive with sure hands and sat comfortable in his stance. He was quick down to block and deadened the ball in front. Staying directional and efficient with his feet to throw will help increase carry to his target quickening his pop times. Offensively, he hit from a strong launch position with activated hands. He was fluid in his ability and was accurate with the barrel. In the outfield, he had a good idea of fielding his position and made most plays. All in all - Kevin is a projectable backstop with good defensive ability.

12/27/2013 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Kevin posted his best pop to date - 2.09 seconds - in his most recent Factory outing. As a backstop, he showed soft receiving ability, and quick footwork to throw. He flashed some consistency with his exchange, but needs to be sure not to reach for pitches. Offensively, he gets to a good launch position and showed some rhythm. Kevin has a great awareness of the strike zone, but must work to see the ball deeper into the hitting zone, enabling him to use the whole field more consistently. On the mound, he competed in Arizona throwing two pitches with some raw mechanics. Currently, Kevin's upside is behind the dish and his stock will continue to rise with more repetitions. Kevin is a solid prospect that will be able to help a program at the next level.

10/06/2013 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Kevin continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. He utilizes his quick feet well in working in line to his target through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest pop time to date at 2.18 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Receiving / blocking skills are quality tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, he shows an open, balanced setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Power numbers will continue to improve as he loads and use his lower half more.

07/31/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Kevin is a 2015 catcher that is well schooled in receiving and blocking. As a backstop, he is sure handed, works hard behind the dish and is quick to block. He has fluid footwork to recover and shows present carry on his throws. A throwing/long toss program will only strengthen his arm and allow for decreases in his pop times. Offensively, he has quick hands, gets the barrel to the zone and fights off pitches deep in counts. Kevin is a competitor and jumped on the mound to throw a fastball and breaking ball to change speeds. Currently, he projects best as a catcher and is a very disciplined/coachable player that should see improvements to his game with his work ethic.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
