08/03/2011 - Pirate City World Series 2011 - Session 1
McCreight showed similar abilities as we had previously seen in Cedar Hill, TX and still shows as a two-way player. Currently, he projects best at 3B for the next level. Feet are active as he gets into a solid fielding position and displays soft, clean hands. Throws are accurate through a loose arm action but will benefit by getting on a long toss program to aid in building more arm strength and carry, plus raising velocities. Offensively, Kevin shows a balanced approach and flashes bat speed at times. He has some mechanical flaws that are hindering him from reaching his full potential with grades improving quickly with instruction and adjustments. Kevin is a hard working, coachable player who is willing to learn. Kevin will continue to improve with his hard work.
04/17/2011 - College PREP - Cedar Hill (DFW), TX
Kevin is a young, tall, athletic player who plays 3B and RHP. Defensively, Kevin has soft hands, fluid footwork, and he fields the ball out in front of his body. He has good range to the glove side, fields in a square position, and his exchange is quick and clean. Kevin has a short / quick arm action, and he throws with life and accuracy to his target. With a more smooth backhand, and fielding lower to the ground, defensive grades can further improve. On the mound, Kevin has a free, loose arm action, a tall / controlled balance point, and on-time separation. He works in good rhythm, he keeps his shoulders level, and he has good direction toward home plate. Kevin's CB has good bite, his CH has good sink, and he lands in an athletic / complete position. Mound effectiveness can further improve with more extension, and better use of his frame. At the plate, Kevin has an athletic / open stance, a proper load, and a short / square stride. He has good balance, fast bat speed, and he gets proper separation. Kevin's swing is short, he gets good extension, and he hits line drives. More direct hands to the ball and a more narrow base should help offensive numbers rise.
